Otentisitas dan Aktualitas dalam Pemikiran al-Mestiri
Abstract
The efforts of Muslims society to break away from adversity in the contemporary era are still sentimental, emotional, fragmentary and reactionary. The fundamental question is, what really is lacking with these efforts? This is the main focus of Mohamed al-Mestiri’s research. By referring to the efforts of epistemological and axiological bases represented in a dictum ‘at-ta’shîl lâ yumkin illa mu‘âshiran,’ al-Mestiri elaborates on various fundamental problems which are often missed by various attempts at resurrection. For al-Mestiri, the basic fundamentals of the process of reforming contemporary Islamic thought must be based on multi-compositional and multi-dimensional principles (murakkabah wa muta‘addidah at-takhashus), and observational/research (al-murâqabah al-mîdâniyyah), not decompositional, mono-dimensional. This principle also emphasizes that ijtihad must be carried out collectively, not individually.
