Reviewer’s Guide

Peer review is essential for filtering out poor quality articles by assessing the validity and integrity of the research.

We value the work done by peer reviewers in the academic community, who facilitate the process of publication and drive research within their fields of expertise Why should you be a peer reviewer?

Types of peer review

  • Single-blind peer review – the name of the reviewer is hidden from the author
  • Double-blind peer review – names are hidden from both reviewers and the authors
  • Open peer review – everyone is identified

 How does peer review work?

We use the JURNAL PENELITIAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM Track system, powered by OJS. To submit to or review for any JURNAL PENELITIAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM, you will need to register for an account on JURNAL PENELITIAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM Track if you don’t already have one.

  1. Paper submitted
  2. Checked for compliance with journal guidelines
  3. Fits within the journal’s aims & scope? Desk reject or sent out for peer review
  4. Peer reviewers selected by keywords
  5. Email sent to reviewer
  6. Decision (Decline: If you don’t have the time or particular knowledge to complete the review, or you have a bias or conflicts of interest that would prevent you from giving a fair review, please decline the invitation. If you simply ignore the email, you will be sent automatic follow-ups and it will delay the paper’s review process. Accept: Please take note of the deadline set in the confirmation email and advise the editor if you encounter delays.
  7. Paper will appear in your ‘Reviewer Centre’ in JURNAL PENELITIAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM Track
  8. Make recommendations to Editor

Basic principles of Reviewing

  • Only agree to review manuscripts within your area of expertise for which you can return your comments in a timely manner
  • Respect the confidentiality of the process
  • Be objective and constructive in your review
  • Declare all conflicts of interest (personal, professional or financial relationship with any party involved in the manuscript)

 

Peer Review Process

Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam maintain the standards of peer review while increasing the efficiency of the process.

All research articles published in Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam undergo full peer review, key characteristics of which are listed below:

  • All research articles are reviewed by at least two suitably qualified experts.
  • All publication decisions are made by the journals’ Editors-in-Chief on the basis of the reviews provided
  • Members of the international Editorial Boards lend insight, advice and guidance to the Editors-in-Chief generally and to assist decision making on specific submissions
  • Managing  Editors and  Editorial Assistants provide the administrative support that allows Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam to maintain the integrity of peer review while delivering rapid turnaround and maximum efficiency to authors, reviewers and editors alike.
  • Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam additionally benefit through the manuscript referral process from the high quality peer review conducted by established journals.

Peer review of referred papers:

Editors of Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam will decide promptly whether to accept, reject, or request revisions of referred papers based on the reviews and editorial insight of the supporting journals. In addition, Editors will have the option of seeking additional reviews when needed. Authors will be advised when Editors decide further review is needed.

Peer review of novel submissions:

Articles submitted directly to Jurnal Penelitian Pendidikan Islam will be fully peer reviewed by at least two appropriately qualified experts in the field selected by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editor-in-Chief or a designated member of the Editorial Board will then decide whether to accept, reject or request revisions based on the reviews and comments received.
Editors will decide whether each submission reports well-conducted research with conclusions supported by the data presented in the paper. Assessments of priority will not be a factor in decision-making, but all papers must make an incremental or novel addition to the literature.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

This journal is open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to users or institutions.
